VIENNA, 29 July (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Panama to the United Nations (Vienna), Javier Enrique Caraballo Salazar, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During his career, Mr. Salazar who is also Ambassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:
Attorney General of Panama (2021–2024); Acting Attorney General and First Specialized Prosecutor for Drug-Related Crimes, Attorney General’s Office (2020); Regional Superior Prosecutor for Colón and Kuna Yala (2017–2019); Superior Prosecutor of Organized Crime, Attorney General’s Office (2016); First Specialized Prosecutor for Drug-Related Crimes (2009–2016); Delegate Prosecutor Specialized in Drug-Related Crimes, Colón Province and Kuna Yala (2007–2009); Delegate Prosecutor Specialized in Drug-Related Crimes, Herrera Province (2005–2006); Delegate Prosecutor Specialized in Drug-Related Crimes, Colón Province and Kuna Yala (2004); Assistant Prosecutor, Superior Drug Prosecutor’s Office of Panama (2000–2003), Judicial Secretary III/Assistant in Drug Prosecutor’s Office of Panama (1999); and Assistant Prosecutor, Delegated Drug Prosecutor’s Office of Colón and Kuna Yala (1997–1999).
Mr. Salazar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Political Science from the University of Panama and Master’s Studies in Criminal Sciences and in Procedural Law and Criminal Procedural Law.
